Clostridium Butyricum
Clostridium butyricum is a Gram-positive, anaerobic bacillus that inhibits pathogenic bacteria in the intestinal tract and promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria. It can ferment many carbohydrates to produce acid and make amylase to break down starch. Its main metabolites are butyric, acetic, and lactic acids, along with small amounts of propionic and formic acids. Clostridium butyricum is stable, produces its own spores, and is resistant to heat, acid, and the digestive tract. It is also resistant to many antibiotics and can be used with antibiotics to improve their effect.
