(Yeast and Its Culture with Antimicrobial Peptides)
DESCRIPTION
WELTIDE is one kind of antimicrobial peptide, called plectasin. It can be used to prevent the disease caused by gram positive pathogen and clostridium. Plectasin was found by Denmark researchers in 2005 and then widely studied by other scientists. It is a fungal defensin, inhibiting bacteria by targeting the cell wall precursor Lipid Ⅱ(Schneider et al.,2010)
Hinabiotech has done a lot of research about the development of WELTIDE and naturally succeed with holding 3 patents. WELTIDE can be used for swine, poultry and aquaculture to replace antibiotics that have effects on gram-positive pathogen and clostridium.
BENEFITS
Bacteriostasis:Prevent diseases resulted by Staphylococcus hyicus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Clostridium perfringens.
Promote growing:Increase feed intake, promote the activity of digestive enzymes, improve the digestibility of nutrient.
Improve intestine health:Facilitate the development of intestinal villus, promote the proliferation of beneficial bacteria.
Immuno-enhancement:Ingredients can activate the nonspecific immunity
Antibacterial mechanism
Plectasin is a fungal defensin, acts by directly binding the bacterial cell-wall precursor Lipid II. These compounds interfere with cell-wall biosynthesis, resulting in the increased permeability of cell walls, and then formed holes on cell walls which leads to contents exudation, ultimately making the whole cell lysate death.
ADVANTAGES
High activity of antibacterial:Sensitive to gram positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Enterococcus spp..
High thermostability:No dramaticlly decrease at 100℃ for 30 minutes.
Acid and protease resistance:Stable at pH 2 to 9, stable with pepsin, trypsin, papain for 2 hours.
No residual and no toxicity:The peptides can not do harm to human health so far .
ANIMAL TRIAL
The effect of WELTIDE on growth performance in broiler
Animal: 480 AA broiler chickens of one day old were divided into three treatments fed different diets. Each treatment includes six replicates. The groups were control group (basal diet), antibiotic group (basal diet + 10 mg/kg Enramycin) and WELTIDE group (basal diet + 200 mg/kg WELTIDE).
Test period: 42 days.
Results
The addition of 200 g/t WELTIDE to broiler diet can improve ADFI and ADG (P<0.05), decrease FCR (P<0.05). The ADG of WELTIDE group was 15% higher than control group, and the FCR was 4% lower. The addition of WELTIDE and Enramycin show the same results, with no significant difference.
Conclusion
The addition of 200 g/t WELTIDE to broiler diet can improve the growth performance of broiler. WELTIDE could be an effective product to replace Enramycin.
