Methyltetrahydrofolate Calcium is belongs to the folate family of vitamins (vitamin B9, folic acid), and is a coenzyme form of folic acid. l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate calcium (5-mth), the naturally occurring salt-forming methyl derivative form of folic acid, and 5-mthf are also known as levomethylfolate, which is the most biologically active and functional form of folic acid, and which is more readily absorbed than regular folic acid.It is widely used as a derivative of tetrahydrofolate, and has been determined by the US FDA to be generally safe for use in food additives and pharmaceutical additives.
